Artists and designers from around the world now have the chance to transform one of Dubai’s most iconic landmarks into their creative canvas. Emaar has officially launched the 2026 Burj Khalifa Open Call, inviting visual artists, designers, animators, and creative professionals to submit original projection concepts for display on the world’s tallest building.
The competition, now open through the Burj Khalifa website, offers a unique opportunity for creatives to see their work projected across the famous façade of Burj Khalifa, reaching millions of visitors and audiences worldwide.
A Global Platform for Creative Talent
This year’s brief challenges participants to create a three-minute audio-visual projection that reflects innovation, artistic excellence, and the vibrant spirit of Dubai. The selected design will illuminate one of the most recognizable landmarks on the planet, providing unparalleled international exposure for the winning artist.
Unlike last year’s edition, the 2026 competition welcomes submissions from both UAE-based and international participants, expanding the initiative into a truly global creative platform.
Submission Timeline
The competition officially opened on July 8, 2026, and submissions will be accepted until August 18, 2026, at 11:59 PM.
Applicants must submit:
- A three-minute original projection design
- An MP4 preview with embedded audio
- A high-resolution MOV projection file
- A separate copyright-free audio track
- A concept statement of up to 300 words explaining the creative vision
All visual and audio elements must be original, culturally appropriate, and free from copyright restrictions.
No Cash Prize, But Global Recognition
One notable difference from the 2025 edition is the absence of a cash prize. Last year’s competition awarded AED 100,000 to the winning UAE-based artist, alongside the opportunity to have their work displayed on Burj Khalifa.
This year, Emaar has shifted its focus toward international exposure rather than financial reward, positioning the competition as a prestigious platform for creative recognition on a global stage.
How to Apply
Artists can submit their entries by emailing their projection files and concept note to opencall@emaar.ae before the deadline. Detailed technical specifications, submission guidelines, and competition terms are available through the Open Call section of the Burj Khalifa website.
By opening the competition to creatives worldwide, Emaar continues to reinforce Dubai’s position as a global destination for art, innovation, and cultural expression. For many artists, the opportunity to see their vision illuminate the world’s tallest building may be the ultimate reward.
