Ras Al Khaimah is set to make history as the first emirate in the UAE to launch an air taxi service, revolutionizing travel between Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah by 2027.

The ambitious project was formalized through the signing of a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with US-based Joby Aviation, a leader in electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, and UK-based Skyports Infrastructure, a global innovator in vertiport development.

Once operational, the service will slash traditional travel times, cutting the journey from over an hour by car to just 15 minutes by air taxi. This groundbreaking initiative reflects Ras Al Khaimah’s commitment to advancing sustainable mobility, boosting tourism, and positioning itself as a leader in futuristic transport solutions within the region.

The collaboration brings together Joby Aviation’s expertise in zero-emission aircraft technology with Skyports’ advanced infrastructure solutions, ensuring a seamless, efficient, and eco-friendly travel experience.

By 2027, the UAE could be at the forefront of integrating air taxis into urban transport, aligning with its broader vision of building smart cities and driving innovation across industries.
