Sebastian Delfi : The Future Architect of Middle East Football

Inspiring the next generation through elite football training, global partnerships, and a powerful vision for UAE’s youth.

In a country known for its ambition and innovation, Sebastian Delfi is building something truly extraordinary — not in skyscrapers or startups, but on the football field. From the quiet city of Khorfakkan, UAE, a new chapter in youth sports is being written, and at its center is the Australian-born former professional footballer who has become known as “The Face of Youth Football in the Emirates.”

With an inspiring journey that took him from Australia to Germany, Serbia, and the USA, Delfi’s dream didn’t end when his playing career did — it simply evolved. Today, he’s the founder of Al Khaleej Football Academy, a game-changing institution that is training the next generation of football stars with European standards and elite-level competition— right here in the Middle East.

A Prodigy Turned Pioneer

Sebastian Delfi was first scouted at the age of 12 by Hertha Berlin and Bayern Munich, becoming one of the youngest Australians to receive a scholarship offer from the German football powerhouse. By 15, he had drawn interest from BarcelonaReal Madrid, and Crvena Zvezda, eventually playing for the Serbian giants under former Yugoslav professional Mitar Mrkela.

Despite the glory and promise, Delfi’s career took an unexpected turn after a serious foot injury and surgery, forcing him to retire by 25. But his passion never faded — instead, it gave birth to something bigger.

The Birth of Al Khaleej Football Academy

Determined to give back and uplift future generations, Delfi launched Al Khaleej Football Academy in Khorfakkan — a project that has grown into the largest Emirati football academy on the UAE’s East Coast. Today, it is home to over 100 young Emirati talents, many of whom are chasing dreams of becoming professional footballers.

What sets Al Khaleej apart is its commitment to European-style footballelite-level competition, and a structured path toward professional clubs. Delfi’s vision is clear:
“Creating the future of youth footballers to play football at the highest level.”

A Pathway to Greatness

Al Khaleej has already made history, becoming the first and only academy from the UAE East Coast to play in the Premier Youth Football League of Dubai and the MINA Cup Dubai. It’s not just about training; it’s about creating real opportunities.

In recognition of its rising influence, the academy has also partnered with some of the biggest brands in the region. After successful collaborations with NOONNamshi, and Umbro, Al Khaleej has now signed a prestigious one-year partnership with PUMA Middle East for the upcoming 2025/26 season — a deal that signals the academy’s rising prominence on a regional and international scale.

Inspiring a Generation

Sebastian Delfi’s story is more than a football journey — it’s a lesson in resilience, vision, and leadership. He proves to children across the Middle East that even when dreams change, purpose can grow stronger.

To every young boy or girl who dreams of hearing the roar of a stadium or wearing their country’s colors — know this: your journey can begin today.

Because in Khorfakkan, a movement has begun.
A movement that believes the next football legend could come from right here in the Middle East.

Middle East Magazine proudly celebrates the pioneers who are building the future. And Sebastian Delfi is not just building athletes — he’s building a legacy.
