In a landmark move that reaffirms Dubai’s global leadership in lifestyle innovation, Majid Al Futtaim has announced a visionary AED 5 billion transformation of the iconic Mall of the Emirates. Timed with the mall’s 20th anniversary, this extensive redevelopment is set to redefine what a mall can be—transforming it from a shopping hub into a multi-sensory lifestyle experience.
Leading this evolution is Khalifa Bin Braik, CEO of Majid Al Futtaim Asset Management, who shares the bold vision of creating a “Mall of New Possibilities.” With an additional 20,000 square meters of retail space and 100 new stores, the project blends luxury retail with premium wellness, entertainment, culture, and dining—tailored to the expectations of a new generation of consumers.

Beyond Shopping: A Destination for Life
More than an expansion, this transformation marks a paradigm shift. Among the standout highlights is the creation of a multi-offering precinct—an indoor-outdoor space designed for casual dining, active entertainment, and attractions tailored to Gen Z, families, and experience-driven shoppers.
A first-of-its-kind outdoor F&B courtyard, debuting in 2027, will provide a lush, open-air escape that transforms with the seasons—an oasis in the heart of the mall.
Culture Meets Innovation
In a pioneering move, the mall will welcome New Covent Garden, a cultural hub developed in collaboration with the Dubai Performing Arts Academy. Scheduled to open in 2025, the hub includes a 600-seat theatre, dance studios, and the Middle East’s first Pineapple Dance Studios—elevating the mall’s cultural and creative offerings.
Meanwhile, the SEVEN Wellness Club will anchor a new luxury wellness precinct within the Kempinski Hotel, offering world-class spa and recovery experiences.
Retail of the Future
“This transformation goes beyond physical change—it’s a re-founding,” said Bin Braik. “It’s about doubling our impact, bringing together our tenants, partners, and teams to create a next-generation mall rooted in innovation, inclusivity, and sustainability.”
A key aspect is VOX Cinemas, now upgraded with the world’s most advanced IMAX experience, continuing the mall’s legacy of setting new standards in entertainment.

Sustainability and Seamless Access
In partnership with Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the project includes comprehensive infrastructure enhancements—new access roads, a barrierless parking system by Parkin, and better traffic flow—all expected to be completed by September.
Sustainability remains a core focus, with energy-efficient systems, smart design, and environmentally conscious planning integrated into every facet of the redevelopment.
The Future Is Now
From cultural hubs and luxury wellness to the curated expansion of high-end retail, Mall of the Emirates is no longer just a mall—it is becoming a global benchmark for immersive, connected living. Through bold investment and forward-thinking leadership, Majid Al Futtaim continues to shape the future of retail and lifestyle in the Middle East and beyond.
As Bin Braik aptly puts it:
“We’re letting go of the ordinary and building the extraordinary.”
