Twelve local manufacturers awarded contracts under ‘Make it in the Emirates’ initiative, expected to create up to 1,300 skilled jobs and boost industrial self-reliance
Abu Dhabi, UAE – In a strategic move to enhance the nation’s industrial capabilities and reduce global supply chain risks, the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has inked framework agreements worth AED 6 billion (USD 1.64 billion) with 12 UAE-based manufacturers. The agreements focus on the local production of essential industrial equipment, including cables and pressure vessels, and are poised to create up to 1,300 skilled jobs in the private sector.
The announcement was made at the ongoing “Make it in the Emirates” forum in Abu Dhabi, in the presence of Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and ADNOC Managing Director and Group CEO.
“These framework agreements to manufacture pressure vessels and cables in the UAE highlight ADNOC’s success in strengthening the resilience of our supply chain, expanding the UAE’s manufacturing base, and creating jobs in the private sector through our In-Country Value programme,” said Yaser Saeed Almazrouei, ADNOC Executive Director for People, Commercial and Corporate Support.
Boosting Local Industry and Economic Impact
The contracts aim to support ADNOC’s broader industrial strategy under the UAE’s “Make it in the Emirates” initiative, which encourages domestic manufacturing and industrial investment. The agreements also reinforce ADNOC’s In-Country Value (ICV) programme, which has already contributed AED 242 billion ($65.9 billion) to the UAE economy since 2018 and supported the employment of over 17,000 Emiratis in the private sector.
ADNOC has committed to procuring AED 90 billion ($24.5 billion) worth of locally manufactured products by 2030, and it plans to inject AED 200 billion ($54.5 billion) into the national economy through ICV-driven activities over the next five years.
